Hello, internet! I’m a storyteller with more than a decade of experience working on global teams in nonprofit, agency and corporate settings. My main goal? Bridge the gap between complex topics and the people who should care about them.

I currently do this as a writer for The Nature Conservancy, a worldwide conservation organization working to combat the climate and biodiversity crises. I turn hard science into cutting-edge research stories; niche conservation successes into cool comeback pieces; data, facts and figures into narratives that move people thousands of miles away. If I’ve done my job well, the average reader feels invested in, connected to and inspired to support the work of The Nature Conservancy.

Over my 10 years as a professional writer, I’ve learned that the stories that truly break through are those told as a team: compelling writing alongside vivid visuals, a comprehensive channel plan and an intimate understanding of audience. I really shine when I get to work collaboratively with other experts to bring important stories to life.

When I’m not clacking away at my keyboard, I’m hitting the trails of the beautiful Pacific Northwest—running, hiking, backpacking, birding and skiing—or creating mediocre art (pet portraits and crocheted stuffed animals are my specialty).

    I have led comms strategies for global institutions, geared to a variety of diverse stakeholders. This includes developing a campaign strategy for donors while leading development communications at The Nature Conservancy in Illinois, as well as email marketing for a targeted audience of NGO professionals and editorial theme messaging for general audiences in my role on The Nature Conservancy’s global marketing team.

    I work with project teams around the world to make interviews, photos and scientific findings greater than the sum of their parts, like I did with this feature on Indigenous leaders across the Amazon basin and how they experienced climate change through their rivers.

    I’ve worked as a development communications manager where I wrote tailored proposals that inspired multimillion dollar gifts. In my role as a writer for The Nature Conservancy, I lead writing and strategy for the organization’s global annual report, which tells a larger story about our worldwide organization and makes the case for flexible funding.
